After a gruelling couple days, we finally got all moved in to our new house and everything cleaned, etc. at our rental. Despite the living amongst boxes and not finding anything that we've been experiencing this past week, we are just so happy about our house! The kids have loved playing outside in the cul-de-sac and the backyard and just feel like they have more freedom, I think. It's also nice that they have more inside space. Most of their toys are still boxed in the garage and I am kind of liking it, lol! They may just disappear forever, haha.
Can I just say how much I am dying to get unpacked so I can start decorating? I haven't really done much since I thought it was important to first get things out of the garage (most of our stuff wound up there) and put away. I have hung my favorite mirror since I was terrified something would happen to it and put a few things out here and there. I have several projects swimming around in my head including my $5 Craigslist lights that I am dying to hang..maybe I can convince Jay to do it this week for Mother's Day :)
Not a great shot, but I just love this mirror. It's my Pottery Barn staple that tends to be the first thing hung when we move.

Our yard is another project in and of itself. Now this is no yard in comparison to Massachusetts standards or anything but for a neighborhood yard in Arizona, it's on the larger size and there is a lot going on that we can quite figure out. The previous owners appeared to have done some good landscaping at one time or another but unfortunately everything suffered when the stuff went unwatered for oh, like almost a year. It's amazing what did pull through though including a fruit tree that we think may be oranges and a beautiful sissou tree. This week, to replace some of the larger trees that were lost, we planted our first tree, a Cottonwood. It was Jay's request, since he recalls having these in Missouri and I was fine with anything hardy that would grow quickly and provide shade :-) The kids had a blast helping him plant it..even Maddi got right in there filling the wheelbarrow with dirt!
Here is a little pic of the cousins playing with Joe's hex bugs..they were all into it..even Maddi. Fun times!
