Sedona & the Grand Canyon - Part 1

On our trip to the Grand Canyon, we decided to stop in Sedona. I have been numerous times and of course, we took my niece when she came to visit in April but we had to share the beauty with my sister & nephew. It was also a nice half way spot to stretch our legs & have some lunch. We started out at the Chapel of The Holy Cross, which is a beautiful church built into the rocks. I've always thought it was amazing to look at from afar but believe it or not, I'd never visited. We actually drove up on the mountain and got to go inside...what a site. After that, we found a little hiking spot where we had our picnic lunch & hiked a little before getting back on the road to the Grand Canyon. It was nice to have both kids tuckered out and sleeping and enjoying the beautiful scenery as we drove. There were gorgeous mountains covered in snow and well, I just like to see trees, since they are a novelty here in Phoenix.

When we arrived in the Grand Canyon, it was about 5pm. We headed straight there before checking into our hotel to try to catch the sunset. We were able to although we were kind of on the wrong side of the action, it was still breathtaking, of course.

The highlight of the trip for Avery though, was the swimming! There was an indoor pool that he played in with my sister, nephew & niece. Mayci and I hung in the hottub. It was overly hot & she just kind of splashed her hands while sitting on my lap. Fine with me, the main pool felt little too chilly for my taste!

Poor Rosie, she will probably never have kids! They tuckered her out!

Almost there!

Only in AZ do they decorate the cactus with Christmas ornaments!

And the best part...? The SNOW of course!
